The world
changed.
Friction didn't.

Friction Prescription โ€” FRXN for short โ€” is an anti-friction balm built for endurance. One application creates a protective layer that holds up through hours of motion, sweat, and heat โ€” so your skin stops being the thing that ends the workout.

" I put it on my feet once and didn't even have to reapply through mile 70. I was going to put more on at 80, but that stuff held up. Same compression socks the whole time. Never changed my shoes. Thank you for protecting my feet.

Umstead 100 // 100 Miles // One Application

I applied it once before Umstead 100 to test it under real-world conditions. 100 miles later โ€” zero chafing anywhere I applied it. It works, and you don't even notice it's there. I can apply it with my hands without leaving them a greasy mess.

How It
Works.

Two jobs, every time. Reduce the rubbing that damages skin โ€” and support the skin while it's under stress.

// Built for the conditions you actually face

  • Heat
  • Sweat
  • Salt
  • Repeat motion
  • Long hours
  • Skin that has to keep going
Less rubbing.
Less damage.
More miles.
/01
Stays put through sweat. One application is built to carry you through hours, not minutes.
/02
Protects high-friction zones. Thighs, feet, underarms, bra line, waistband โ€” anywhere skin meets skin or gear.
/03
Soothes while it protects. Skin-supportive ingredients cushion the work, not just coat over it.
01/02 SYSTEM

A barrier built to last the long haul.

Advanced silicone and cross-linked polymers form a durable layer on your skin. That layer absorbs the rubbing instead of your body doing it.

One application. Hours of work.

  • Advanced Silicone The protective barrier. Slips against itself instead of pulling on your skin.
  • Cross-Linked Polymers Locks the barrier in place. What makes it last hours, not minutes.
02/02 SYSTEM

Skin support, not just skin coverage.

Cosmetic-grade ingredients and naturally-derived powders โ€” Polynesian arrowroot and allantoin โ€” give the formula a smoother feel and help calm skin while you're putting it through the work.

Performance protection. Comfort built in.

  • Polynesian Arrowroot Naturally-derived powder. Adds a smooth, dry-finish feel.
  • Allantoin Skin-soothing compound. Calms the friction zones while you work.
Apply before the friction starts.

That's the single most important thing to know. The formula does its best work on intact skin, before mechanical stress begins. Wait until you feel rubbing and you've already lost ground.

Before the work begins.

// How to use it

The first-run protocol.

  1. 01
    Start with clean, dry skin.
Shower or wipe down. Wet skin shortens the barrier.
  2. 02
    Apply where friction lives.
Thighs, feet, underarms, bra line, waistband โ€” anywhere skin meets skin or gear. A thin, even layer is enough. More isn't better.
  3. 03
Give it a minute. Then dress.
Let it set briefly so it bonds to skin instead of fabric. No greasy hands to wash off. No residue on your kit.
  4. 04
Run. Don't think about it again.
For ultras, water crossings, or 8+ hour days, reapply at aid stations. Most efforts won't need it.

Where to
put it. When.

First time using anti-friction balm? Here's the practical map. If skin meets skin, or skin meets gear, and you'll be there for a while โ€” Friction Prescription belongs there.

The problem isn't sweat.
It's repeated movement under stress.

/01
Thighs
The classic chafe zone. Apply before runs, rides, and hot days.
/02
Feet
Pre-blister insurance. Heels, toes, arches โ€” wherever your sock moves.
/03
Underarms
Sleeve rub on long hauls โ€” especially in heat and humidity.
/04
Bra Line
Band, straps, wherever fabric meets sweat for hours.
/05
Waistband
Shorts, pack belts, hydration vests โ€” friction lives here.
/06
Groin
Where most people learn the hard way. Apply early, apply generously.
/07
Nipples
Long runs, dri-fit, cold rain โ€” the trifecta. Don't skip this one.
/08
Pack Points
Shoulders, hips, sternum โ€” anywhere a strap rides for hours.

A modern formula for a modern athlete problem.

// About Friction Prescription

Built by athletes who got sick of it.

Founders
David & Chris // Ultra Runners
Chris and David, founders of Friction Prescription, in Knoxville Tennessee
Chris & David ยท Knoxville, TN ยท Post-run, mid-summer

Friction Prescription didn't start in a lab. It started on long runs, in the miles where every shortcut a product takes shows up on your skin. David and Chris were running ultras. They kept buying anti-friction products that promised everything and delivered very little.

The list of things that failed was long.

  1. /01 Greasy hands after every application.
  2. /02 A smell you didn't want on you for 100 miles.
  3. /03 Reapplying mid-effort because the first pass quit early.
  4. /04 Ruined clothes from products that bled through fabric.
  5. /05 A mess on your skin you could feel the whole time it was on.

None of it lived up to the hype on the label. So they stopped buying products built by people who didn't run them โ€” and started building one for the way the sport is actually run.

We didn't set out to launch a brand. We set out to fix something that kept failing us at mile 60.

Friction Prescription is what came out of that.
Built by athletes, tested by athletes, for the work athletes do.

No theater. Just miles.

Frequently
asked.
Quickly answered.

I've never used anti-chafe balm. Is this for me? +
If you do anything that involves repeated motion for more than an hour โ€” running, hiking, cycling, lifting in heat, long days on your feet โ€” yes. Anti-friction balm is the difference between finishing strong and finishing raw. Friction Prescription is built specifically for that long-duration, real-conditions use.
Do I need to reapply mid-effort? +
Most efforts under 6 hours won't need a reapply. For ultras, long water crossings, or 8+ hour days, carry a Go Pouch or stick and refresh at an aid station. The barrier is built to outlast most workouts; it's the truly long-haul efforts that benefit from a touch-up.
How do I wash it off? +
Soap and water in a normal shower clears it. The barrier is built to stay put under sweat and mechanical stress, but it's not waterproof armor โ€” it comes off when you actually try to wash it off.
Will it stain my clothes or gear? +
Friction Prescription is designed to layer onto skin without leaving heavy residue on fabric. Like any skin balm, applying a moderate amount and letting it set briefly before dressing gives the cleanest result.
Is it safe for sensitive skin and intimate areas? +
The formula leans on cosmetic-grade ingredients and skin-soothing components like allantoin and Polynesian arrowroot. Many athletes use it on intimate areas where chafing is a recurring issue. As with any new skin product, we recommend a small patch test first if you have known sensitivities.
Stick, tin, or pouch โ€” which do I want? +
Start with the Go Stick if you want fast, no-mess application for daily training. The Endurance Tin is built for race-day and crew use โ€” bigger format, more product, easier to share at aid stations. The Go Pouch is the carry-anywhere single-use for race kits, travel, and emergencies.
What makes Friction Prescription different? +
We built it for endurance from the ground up. The barrier system is engineered to last hours under real conditions, and the supporting ingredients are chosen to soothe skin while it's working โ€” not just coat over it. It's a category that hadn't been meaningfully rebuilt in a long time. We rebuilt it.

Don't wait
for friction
to win.

Apply before the damage starts.
Stay in motion.
